PANTOMIME IN THE RELIGIOUS CULTURE OF THE CHURCH
Abstract: In the average consciousness of a modern man, pantomime is associated with a non-verbal message, both in interpersonal relationships and in stage play. The original meaning of mime, from which the Roman pantomime grew, was a contradiction of today’s understanding of “silent art”, as it was based mainly upon imitation, both with the help of the senses and human speech. This type of theatre was used by the Roman authorities in the religious struggle against the followers of Jesus Christ, ridiculing the system of values, morality, faith in one God or Christian rituals. The reaction of the Church was numerous statements prohibiting the faithful from participating in theatrical and mime performances. The slow assimilation of actors and their creative achievements took place in the Middle Ages with the rise of liturgical drama. Then, Pantomime became a component of church plays, becoming an integral element of pious performance. In modern times, Christian evangelizers, using the new tools to talk about God, also reach for the “silent art”, called pantomime.
Keywords: mime, Christian mime, pantomime, Roman theater, liturgical drama, evangelizer, new evangelization.

SIMPLICITY AS A WAY TO RENEW THE SPIRITUAL LIFE. ST. FRANCIS’S AND FRANCISCAN EXPERIENCE OF SIMPLICITY
Abstract: One of the virtues that still fascinates many theologians and laypersons today is simplicity. In a very general and most popular way, it was defined as one of the basic characteristics of a modest, sincere and honest man. In the theological context, simplicity can be defined as human’s awareness of himself in relation to God. It was this virtue that became for St. Francis of Assisi as a way to know God. In the Salutation of Virtues, Founder of an Order places this value as one of the most important of all: “Holy pure Simplicity puts to shame all the wisdom of this world and the wisdom of the flesh”. Moreover, thanks to the simplicity of St. Francis of Assisi, maybe initially unconsciously, set a new direction for the theology of Christian spirituality. Just, in the simplicity he saw a chance to renew his spiritual life, regardless of times and circumstances.

THE FATE OF WOMEN – THE FEISTY BERTHA VON SUTTNER (*1843 †1914) AND THE SEARCHER EDITH STEIN (*1891 †1942)
Abstract: Bertha von Suttner was an Austrian writer and journalist. In 1905, she was the first woman who received the Nobel Peace Prize. She published a novel entitled Die Waffen nieder. She was the editor of the international pacifist journal of the same name. Edith Stein is a German philosopher (phenomenologist) of Jewish origin. After converting to Christianity, she became a nun (Carmelite nun). She is a saint and martyr of the Catholic Church. Pope John Paul II declared her the patron of Europe. The article presents two figures. The first woman is born in prosperity and disregards her Christian faith, lively works in socio-cultural as well as political affairs. The second one grows up in a large family earning a living through hard work. Being an atheist, however, she zealously seeks God and finds Him in the faith of the Catholic Church. On the political level, she is characterized by a conservative approach, while in philosophy, she sympathize with groundbreaking ideals.

PILGRIMS AND WORSHIPPERS OF ST. ANNA IN HER SANCTUARIES IN THE HOMELAND OF CHRIST
Abstract: The article attempts to show the places of worship of St. Anna in the homeland of Jesus Christ. Historical and archaeological research provides knowledge on this subject. Using the scientific sources, the essence of pilgrimage to holy places will be presented as well as extremely historical places of worship commemorating the life of St. Anna. These places include: the House of Joachim and Anna in Jerusalem, Sepphoris and the monastery of St. George. The article will indicate two traditions related to the life of St. Anna: Jerusalem and Galilee. In the Catholic Church, the tradition of pilgrimages to holy places has been known since the beginning of early Christianity. Walking in the footsteps of the Savior and His saints allows you to enter into the inner transformation of the pilgrim heart through penitential and ascetic practices. Pilgrims and worshipers go to St. Anna to reach the source and experience her intercession and grace.
Keywords: St. Anna, Holy Land, Jerusalem, Sepphoris, St. George of Kosiba, the Jerusalem tradition, the Galilean tradition, pilgrims and worshipers.
Jarosław Sempryk
Abstract: Unchanged increase in unemployment, destruction of the environment, diseases of civilization, the widening gap between the poor and the rich, addictions and social unrest are becoming more and more common. The state or international actions taken are insufficient to remedy these emerging disproportions. Also, global actions focused on corporate financial and commercial institutions, which in fact are not subject to any social control, cannot cope with global problems, especially with the hunger. The idolatry of profit generates exploitation, and outright injustice fuels social conflict. The article shows that replacing the negative concept of «colonization» with the positive term «globalization» does not tame people’s lusts – greed, meaning and use – that feed selfishness and arrogance. The necessity of ethical formation focused on the common good, that is God and the inalienable human dignity of every human being, continues to be and will be a historical imperative.
Keywords: globalization, colonization, global institutions, disproportions, hunger, exploitation, waste, business ethics, management ethics.

NARRATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE EVENTS IN THE GARDENS IN THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST. JOHN (JOHN 18:1-11; 19:38–20:18)
Abstract: Only in the Gospel according to St. John, there is information about two gardens in which the events preceding the trial and death of Jesus and ending with the description of the burial and resurrection take place. This is evident from John’s use of the word «garden» both for the Garden of Olives and for Jesus’ burial place. This article is an attempt to read the theological message of the events taking place in the space of two gardens in the Gospel of St. John through the use of narrative analysis. In the first part, the author of the article defines the author of the work, narrator, addressee and lector. In the second part, he describes the time, space of the narrative and the events covered by the article. In the last part there is an analysis of the fragments of the Gospel according to St. John.
Keywords: garden, Gospel of St. John, theological message, narrative analysis.

FRANCISZEK BLACHNICKI’S ANSWER TO CONTEMPORARY PROBLEMS OF PEDAGOGY. THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION AND POSSIBLE IMPLICATIONS
Abstract: The 20th century became a time of change both in the global and local aspects. On the one hand, it was a consequence of the acceleration of civilization as a result of technological and production development in the 19th century, and on the other hand, these changes were forced by tragic events in the form of world wars and the “strengthening” of totalitarianisms: Nazism, Fascism and Communism. In the face of these events, some branches of the humanities and social sciences have again begun to ask fundamental questions about human being and his identity, development, as well as those elements that may affect his intellectual, ethical and spiritual condition. Both in the world and in Poland there were figures who asked such questions, but also wanted to change the world for the better through their reflection and action. They were both great humanists (read: philosophers) as well as people studying social sciences, including representatives of the revived 20th-century pedagogy. From a global perspective, such people include: Martin Buber, Emmanuel Lévinas, Jean Vanier, Jane Addams. Also Poland can be proud of people who were able to skillfully define contemporary threats from the anthropological, ethical and pedagogical perspective, and at the same time use this reflection in practice. This is about, among other things: Helena Radlińska, Janusz Korczak, Jacek Woroniecki and Franciszek Blachnicki. The last of the above-mentioned figures especially deserved in the field of combining theory with practice, using elements of Christian pedagogy while establishing a movement gathering Catholic youth within the so-called Oasis (Light-Life Movement).
The article is an attempt to specify Franciszek Blachnicki’s position on the intellectual, psychological and spiritual needs of modern human being in the aspect of the educational and didactic process within the framework of the Light-Life Movement. The aim of the work is both a synthetic presentation of his thoughts in this area, as well as an indication of possible implications for modern pedagogy.
Keywords: pedagogy, philosophy of education, education, the Light-Life Movement, Blachnicki.

CONTEMPORARY AREOPAGUS IN PARISH MINISTRY. REFLECTION ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE PARISH OF ST. JOSEPH, THE SPOUSE OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY IN OLSZYNA
Abstract: The year of 2022 is the silver jubilee of the apostolic visit of St. John Paul II in Legnica. In 1997, we witnessed a historic event. In the young diocese, we welcomed the Vicar of Christ, who during the homily gave the “Legnica address of justice” and left a specific task for the diocesans: “It is the great task of our generation, of all Christians of this time, to bring the light of Christ into social life. Bring them to the «modern Areopagus», the vast areas of today’s civilization and culture, politics and economy. In this reflection, we attempt to specify this task in the parish reality. We indicate three areas for the evangelization of distanced Catholics: the activities of parish communities, adult catechesis, and parish websites.
Keywords: homily, evangelism, parish, community, adult catechesis.
